Voice from a loyal teacher
There is a group of people from all over the world who put down roots in Haida and dedicated their youth to our common cause. They have been going hand in hand with Haida and contributing their own strength to education with loyalty and wisdom. This time, we invited one of the teachers to share with us his feelings over the years.
Marlon, from the Netherlands. In 2014, he joined Haida and has been working as a PE teacher since then.
"I remember signing up with Miki 6 years ago and putting all my trust in this first Skype conversation to make this change in my life and come to China. Thus far it has not disappointed!
People always think the grass is greener on the other side and while in some cases this might be true, I believe my position with Haida and the school I work in has been hugely beneficial for my personal development. My relation with Haida has been stable and reliable from both sides. I haven't run into anything we couldn't solve together and then there is no reason to change a winning team.
Haida brought me the stability to be able to focus on developing myself here in China. Because of my job with Haida I was able to learn and develop myself more than I could have ever imagined before coming here.
There are too many to count. I've had so many amazing experiences. The most amazing about being here is the opportunities I get to explore new skills and experiences. I've been doing all the things I was interested in at home but didn't have time and or energy for. Teaching as a main job grants me this freedom. Also, I really love all the animals and people I've been able to share this with during my stay here. My girlfriend and friends are the most amazing people in the world and I'm currently taking care of three street cats (3 girls) that I love dearly too.
I have little homesickness because in most ways I feel my life quality has improved greatly compared to home. I love Hangzhou and especially the BinJiang area. I think in many ways the city and its life pattern bring me more quality of life during my days. When I do miss home or mainly some of my friends or family, I simply reach out to them.
The way I work with Haida is being independent and transparent. I do me and take care of my own life here. Haida will always be in your corner if you really need them, concerning your school, health, law etc. Treat this relationship as such. Don't have unreasonable expectations concerning this relationship. Do expect reliability for the things that matter, like wages and contractual obligations etc. and I think you'll have a great time working in China and with Haida in particular. "
Facing the new era and new orientation, Hangzhou, a fertile land, has become a dream land and a dream city for talents from all over the world. We hope that in the future, more excellent foreign talents will join Haida family and go hand in hand to make a new chapter in the internationalization of education!
