Culture Experience | Learning Taiji
As an important part of Chinese Wushu and traditional culture, Taijiquan has been liked by more and more foreign friends. They not only want to have a better understanding of Chinese traditional culture through Taijiquan learning, but also hope to relieve the pressure and relax their body and mind. Last Saturday, we organized such an activity of Tai Chi experience for Haida foreign teachers, and they enjoyed it greatly.
Fist Palm Salute
Tai Chi master Mr. Shi and his assistant Mr. Lin, first greeted us with fist palm salute, and told us the meaning of the fist palm salute and how to make it correctly. fist palm salute is quite exquisite. Holding the right fist in the left palm in front of the chest shows respect. Instead, holding the left fist in the right palm represents provocation. The left palm represents morality, intelligence, physique and beauty, symbolizing noble sentiment and martial virtue; while the right fist means practising martial arts bravely.
Master Shi and assistant Mr. Lin showed and explained eight-style Taijiquan to us, and teachers practised while watching.
Importance should be attached to taking the quiet approach, overcoming hardness with softness and using smart power. When opponents lose weight, or become distracted, we're supposed to take advantages and fight back. It seems that Tai chi chuan is soft. But in fact,it never be weak.
Combined with Yi-ology and Chinese medicine theory, as a regimen, Taijiquan is of great benefit. Our foreign teachers liked this activity very much. After this Taijiquan experience, they took photos with Taiji master for memory.
