2022 Outstanding Teacher Award Ceremony

Hard work brings fruitful results. In the past year,a number of excellent foreign teachers emerge in Haida. On January 6, 2023, we held the award ceremony for outstanding foreign teachers of the year 2022, expressing our thanks and congratulations to those who have worked hard in year 2022.

Commendation

Haida outstanding teacher awards of 2022 included three types. They were "Advanced Teacher Award", "Potential Teacher Award" and "Loyal Teacher Award".

They combine education with recreation, bringing wonderful classes.

※ Advanced Teacher Award ※ 

They are dissatisfied with mediocrity and are aggressive. As newcomers, they developed into potential excellent teachers in just a few months and were highly praised by school teachers and students.

※ Potential Teacher Award ※ 

They put down roots in Haida, and have been fighting in their own posts for several years, going forward hand in hand with Haida.

Martyn — Advanced Teacher Award

I came to China in 2019 and am now teaching English in my second primary school being with Haida through the entirety of my time here. Firstly I would like to thank Haida for all the help they have given to me during my time here. They have been willing to help with problems with work and with my daily life. Recently after moving to a new school they have helped me transition to the new environment and helped smooth out any potential problems before they could become problems! It has helped me to lead a mostly stress free work life. Secondly I would like to talk about teaching and the job that all of us do here, and the job that we are being celebrated for today. I feel teaching in a foreign country is as equally rewarding as it is surreal. Within my job I am given a lot of freedom in and outside my lessons to interact with the students and form bonds with them. This is very rewarding how you can see the impact that you are having on these students and also the growth that you are helping them to achieve. It is hard to enter the school most days without being swamped by students all wanting to say hello, play some games or get a high five. This can make making a quiet entrance difficult but is a nice way to show their appreciation as soon as you get to work. This is something I feel is hard to find in other industries. I think we all agree that we all have one of the best jobs in the world and hopefully days like today and the appreciation both our schools and Haida show us by inviting us to days like today will encourage us to keep going and keep enjoying our lives as teachers. 

Maxim—Loyal Teacher Award

As school children we all have favourite and not so favoured school teachers. As teachers we take a different perspective whilst still fondly remembering those whose lessons we particularly enjoyed. No one wants to be remembered as a bad teacher but from this new perspective we are acutely aware of the challenges in remaining calm, dedicated and patient in the face of daily challenges and hardships. In the course of my career I became particularly interested in the lives of such world famous teachers and educational pioneers as Montessori, Makarenko and Tolstoy. Great teachers of the past give incredible inspiration and insight into the intricacies of pedagogical science. However, there are also contemporaries from whom we can learn such as Dremus Mann, a teacher working at Baimahu primary school. He has a great generosity of spirit and that is such a positive quality in a teacher. Recently I listened to one of his lectures and realized how fortunate I am to have such a colleague by my side.

Expectation

Here, we would like to pay tribute to every foreign teacher who has made great efforts in his or her post! Glory belongs to the past, and dreams need to be paid. We will embark on a new journey. In the new year, let's spread our wings and fly towards a higher goal.
