I am very proud to have been awarded as Haida Outstanding Teachers for 3 times.

 It is a great honour to be recognized for my work, and it is a testament to the 

support and encouragement I receive from Haida.

Martyn,

an English teacher from UK, 

joined Haida in 2019 and

 has been working here for

 nearly 4 years.

Teaching Job 

1.What attracted you to teach in China? What do you like best about China?

I was attracted to teach in China because of the country's rich history and culture. 

I have always been interested in learning about different cultures, and China

is one of the most fascinating countries in the world. I also wanted to experience

a new way of life, and I knew that teaching in China would be a great way to do that. 

2.What has impressed you most when you work in China?

What has impressed me most about working in China is the students' eagerness 

and to learn and also teachers' dedication to their students. Teachers are always

analysing each other classes and finding new ways to teach and working together

to be better. 

3.How do you think of teachers and students in China?

I think the teachers in China are some of the most hardworking teachers in 

the world. They put in long hours and are always willing to help both me

and the students in any way they can. The students are also very hard 

working. They manage a big workload but still manage to be positive and diligent.

4.Being a teacher for many years, what is the teaching philosophy

 in your mind?

My teaching philosophy is to always make the classes fun and engaging. I 

want the students to have fun while they are learning and to also feel like 

they are making progress. 

5.What's the biggest challenge in your teaching career in China?

The biggest challenge is the language barrier between students and some 

teachers. It can be hard to communicate sometimes however with a little

patience and willingness to learn a little Chinese this can easily be overcome.  

6.As a frequent award winner, do you have any working tips to share

 with our foreign teachers?

Be patient! A lot of things you try won't work straight away so don't get discouraged! 

Be yourself. Don't try to be someone you're not. 

Have fun! If you are not having fun the students won't be either. 

7.What does Haida look like in your eyes?

I think Haida are a great company to work for and a fantastic support net

for all their teachers. They are very supportive of its teachers and go out 

of their way to make sure you are ok and fix any problems that you might have.
